How To Prepare For PPSC Jobs In Pakistan (Tips+Tricks)
The issue of inadequate compensation for government employees in comparison to their counterparts in the private sector is a matter of concern.
Public servants play a crucial role in the functioning of a country, and their dedication and hard work contribute significantly to the development and well-being of society.
However, the disparity in pay between the public and private sectors can create challenges in attracting and retaining talented individuals within government service.
In the past, government employees found some consolation in their service through a generous pension and G.P. Fund, which allowed them to plan for their future, particularly by acquiring a house after retirement.
This was considered a significant benefit and an essential factor in choosing a career in public service.
However, with the current inflationary trend in the property market, the purchasing power of these funds has been eroded, making it difficult for retirees to afford a comfortable living post-retirement.
To address this issue, it has become imperative for the government to establish a supplementary social security network for its employees.
Such a system would provide them with additional financial support during their retirement years, helping to maintain a decent standard of living and ensuring that their years of service are adequately rewarded.
To cater to this objective, the Government of Punjab has taken a proactive step by initiating a program to provide houses or plots to all Government Servants from BS-1 to BS-22 upon their retirement.
This initiative is modeled after successful housing schemes implemented for defense forces personnel.
By offering this benefit, the government aims to provide a stable and secure future for its retiring employees, easing the burden of housing expenses and ensuring a comfortable post-retirement life.
The Punjab Government Servants Housing Foundation (PGSHF) was established as an independent entity under the Punjab Government Servants Housing Foundation Act, 2004.
This legislation was promulgated on 10.03.2004, with the specific purpose of introducing a scheme that offers houses or plots to government servants upon their retirement or to their families in the event of their death during service.
The foundation operates on a non-profit, no-loss basis, meaning it aims to provide these housing benefits without generating any financial gains for itself.
To ensure effective management and oversight, the foundation operates under the guidance of a Board of Directors, with the Chief Secretary of Punjab leading the board.
The board also includes 7 ex-officio members who likely hold key positions within the government and can contribute valuable insights to the foundation’s operations.
The Chief Executive of the Foundation serves as the Managing Director, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities and the successful implementation of the housing scheme.
Overall, the establishment of the Punjab Government Servants Housing Foundation and the housing scheme it offers represent significant steps taken by the government to acknowledge the valuable contributions of its employees and provide them with a more secure and rewarding future after their years of dedicated service.
By addressing the housing needs of retiring government servants, the government aims to boost the morale and motivation of its workforce while promoting a sense of financial security among its employees.
This, in turn, can positively impact the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the public sector in serving the people and contributing to the development and progress of Punjab and the country as a whole.
